Sorry I'm late. Having kind of a sad day.
I'm really enjoying the story you're telling :) and your art style is so neat!
I can't wait to read it whenever I see it's updated ^^
Hope your day gets better! *hug*
I'm feeling better already :)
"Someone else of your race hurt me, so I will hate you instead."
Something tells me she hasn't thought this through.
I really didn't want all of my characters to interact the same way. There's something very "human" about not being able to put things aside and I didn't want to lose that part of Maiu, the way Eilenna and Thook have been able to to some extent.
And you're right to do that.
Saying she's mistaken doesn't mean she, as a character, shouldn't be, since people can indeed be that way!
Read "Warcraft: Rise of the Horde" novel and then you will see and feel how it could be almost impossible not to hate a race when they almost extinged yours in a brutal and merciless way. Draenei live for hundred of years so in theory it is very likely that Maiu saw and lived that, and most probably lost a lot of beloved draenei. Actually I think Maiu is under reacting here xD
Another great installment. I love how you show that Maiu is "human" for lack of a better word when it comes to the orcs, I'm beginning to really like Laska she is a solid no nonsense individual.
Congratulations on Kithra's cameo over in Sara & Kleeyo!
And then Thook's all, "Two can play that game, little draenei! The draenei are just a branch of the eredar, right? The eredar are the major part of the Legion, who corrupted the orcs. So if anything, I should be mad at YOU. So don't be trotting ancient history out here, because your people will lose every time."
True, but I don't think we can depend on Thook to study history... See page 93, "DECISIONS DISTRACTIONS".
Yhea but I don't think that's a valid argument, since the Draenei are the Eredar which chose not to give to the Legion, and all they are living until now for choosing the light path is the edge of extintion. So it would be stupid for any race to hate the Draenei because of that, they actually should be thankful to them for not giving up to the darkness even when their lives were in extreme risk. The Draenei are by far the race who has suffered the most and who has standed with the light the most. You should read "Rise of the Horde", pretty cool book.
The Frostwolves chose not to drink the blood of Mannoroth, so does that make them like the orcish equivalent of the draenei? And I was under the impression that a decent chunk of the orcs in the current horde descended from the Frostwolves. (Or am I just talking out my ass there?)
Anyway, my point from the very start isn't to blame anyone for anything. I'm just saying that you can't blame an entire race in the present for something that only certain members of that race did a long time ago. I wouldn't blame the Maiu for corrupting the orcs any more than I'd blame Thook for killing the draenei.
The Frostwolf are not the orcish equivalent of the Draenei. Durotan and and friend were rescued from Orcs by a Draenei, Restalaan, and taken in by none other than Velan. While staying in Telmor, Durotan witnessed Restalaan deactivate the city's shield using a hidden crystal. Durotan would later betray the Draenei by deactivating that same shield, allowing the first Horde to raze the city and massacre the inhabitants. Including Restalaan, who was killed by none other than Durotan himself. So, no, the Frostwolf #= the Draenei. And before you say it, I play Horde, all my main characters are Horde, I happen to love the Horde, but I acknowledge it's weaknesses.
Oh yeah! I forgot about that. Kinda a dick move.
Sorry to be "That Guy" but Draenor is a refuge planet, not the Draenei home planet. Their homeworld is Argus. Sorry, lore nerd took over! Love the comic!
That was actually intentional. Since Draenor was her only home and she's so stubborn, were anyone to bring that up to her, she'd want to fight about it too.
It's been a few months since I've read this because I stopped playing WoW and therefor stopped going to wowinsider. Then remembered this and I love everything you've done with this so far keep at it.
Wow, thank you. I stopped playing wow years ago, and I wasn't even the one who submitted to WoW Insider because of that. I'm so glad you still like reading even though you aren't playing. :)
So much for everyone getting along. The conflict could be a very good thing though; better everyone get their bile out now and fight it out before things get serious and they have to fight Kithra's captors.
I hope Maiu sticks around for a long timne. She and Thook need to go to Draenor together. The two of them smacked down in the middle of the Iron Horde uprising together...excitement....
